Costume jewelry and accessory designer, PJ Valenciano, specializes not only in making pieces that are fashion statements, but pieces that tell stories of beauty and empowerment as well. She started designing accessories as a hobby, which was introduced to her by her sister, and ended up two years later as her full time career. After completing several courses focused on bead weaving, intricate wiring, and advanced embellishments, she decided to spend all her time in creating one-of-a-kind-fashion accessories. These products have come to be known as Palamuti Storytelling Jewels.
Drawing inspiration from reality, culture, architecture, and anything just about anything that invokes beauty and taste is subject to her artistic side. However her favorite elements to incorporate in her designs are indigenous Filipino materials; mostly inspired by the Philippines’ diverse homegrown artworks, patterns, and crafts. Recently, her work has been showing up on television and the internet, worn by some of the Philippines’ most popular celebrities as well as public figures from both the news and entertainment industry. She attributes all her success from a yearning to always improve her craft. PJ adds that "even if my designs don’t go with the trend, I stick to it and execute it. The fact that it doesn’t blend in makes it all the more beautiful,"
Her work is best judged by her clients’ satisfaction on the high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. They don’t think twice about the price; as long as the product their getting is well worth the cost. "At the end of the day, it’s my customers’ feedback that weighs the success of my craft, and this is why I value quality so much," she adds.
